SUMMARY

Cares for and treats patients in an outpatient medical office, as directed and under the licensure of a Physician (M.D.), by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

After a 90 day introductory period employee is required to utilize and manipulate Greenway applications in a fashion requested by the Administrator, Supervisor, and Partners to retain employment

 

Respond to tasks from Greenway’s Patient Portal

 

Responsible for lab operations under direction from Medical Director

 

Responsible for documenting CLIA required events

 

Maintenance of VFC stocks and supplies

 

Conducts specified laboratory tests as ordered by MD

 

Draw blood and track results for capillary or venous and draws under MD/RN direction for both internal and external laboratory work

 

Removal of sutures and staples

 

Perform sterile CVP dressing changes

 

Preparation and assisting of casting and splinting of injuries

 

Assist with any additional minor surgical procedures

 

Perform nasal suctioning

 

Stock exam room with supplies, including but not limited to paper towels, Kleenex, alcohol preps, forms, etc.

 

Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications

 

Prepares patient for and assists with examinations

 

Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed

 

Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional environment for all patient contacts 

 

Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patient

 

Responsible for filling out order form on PEDSNET for supplies by Friday at 9:00am

 

Process orders and track inventory of all supplies and notify administrator of shortages

 

Verify incoming supplies and confirm invoice supply numbers match

 

Reconstitute Rocephin with Lidocaine

 

Administer immunizations including IM, subQ and oral administration with physician order

 

Buffers lidocaine with sodium bicarb for local anesthetic for use with minor surgical procedures

 

Instruct patient/parent with nebulizer/inhaler treatments and dispense nebulizer for home use

 

Monitor oxygen/suction setup and administer emergency drugs if ordered under the direction of a physician

 

Be respectful, courteous, and pleasant with staff, patients, and parents

 

Needs to be organized and prompt when dealing with insurers/report to Administrator on problems and issues

 

Process physician orders according to Pediatric Associates policies

 

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to document patient complaints, history and vitals in a clear, concise manner.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PROFICIENCY

Typing test proficiency required and must attain 30 words per minute
